Student Loans

As a credit union established to serve educators and their family members, TruStone Financial takes education very seriously. That's why we offer student loans through Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation, one of the premier originators, processors, and administrators of student loans in the nation.

Available Loan Types

Federal Stafford Loans are for undergraduate and graduate students attending an accredited school at least half-time. You may qualify for a Stafford loan if you demonstrate financial need. Repayment begins after leaving school with five to ten years to repay. Federal Stafford loans are guaranteed by the federal government. To be eligible for a Federal Stafford Loan, the student must be a member of TruStone Financial and a primary account holder.

Federal PLUS Loans are for parents to borrow for each dependent student who is enrolled in school at least half-time. Parents may finance up to the full cost of their dependent's education each academic year, minus grants and other financial aid the student receives. Borrowers have ten years to repay, starting 60 days after disbursement. To be eligible for a Federal Plus Loan, the parent must be a member of TruStone Financial and a primary account holder.
